Highlights From Several HUMC Missions Projects

Homeless Hospitality Network
After many hours spent on the telephone, the volunteers are ready: those who cook meals, those who will host, those who drive to the Laundromat and showers, those who will spend the night at the church, and those who will provide recreation on weekends.
The two-week period begins when the twelve pre-selected men arrive at our church as part of the Homeless Hospitality Network. This program is one of several run by Interfaith Homeless Outreach Council and is made up of participating churches and synagogues which provide dinner, a warm, safe place to sleep, and breakfast. During the day the men go to their jobs or, if they are unemployed, to a day center.
Those of us who work in this program may not get to know the individual men well, but at least we learn their names and daily see their struggles to rebuild their lives.
"Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me."

Broadway United Methodist Church, Camden
Every third Sunday of the month a meal for approximately 100 people is prepared, cooked, and taken to the Broadway United Methodist Church in Camden where it is served to those who have trouble providing a meal for themselves and their families, for whatever reason. Some people take the meals to their own homes, and some who may be homeless eat it at the church.
Haddonfield United Methodist Church and two other South Jersey churches share this mission project so that we are involved just once every four months. This all
For all of us there is the satisfaction of knowing the people we are serving will have a hot and healthy meal that evening.
