Currently, there is a youth Bible Study on Thursday nights, 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Youth Library. We select a book of the bible and have a free flowing discussion. The current book is Hebrews. All 7th - 12th grade students are invited to attend.

Confirmation Class & Youth New Member Class

Confirmation Class meets Tuesday evenings in February through May and is for all 8th grade students. Members who successfully complete the classes are confirmed the third Sunday in May. Youth New Member Class meets in the fall and is for any youth who is past 8th grade that wishes to become a member of the church. Classes are held Sunday mornings.

Missions

The youth at HUMC perform many mission projects throughout the year and take one week long Mission Trip each year. On a rotating basis they travel to a rural area (Appalachia), an urban area (Washington, DC) and an out of the country location (Mexico). We teach youth that Missions begins with their neighbor and extends through their community, country and world. This year we will be going to an Indian Reservation in Montana. We also do a monthly mission project locally.

Retreats

Opportunities for youth to go away and reflect on their spiritual lives and to develop Christian friendships are held throughout the year. Ocean City weekend was in September, Keswick will be in Jan/Feb, and the FATrip (Fun Adventure Trip) will be on the Memorial Day Weekend.

Parent Programs

Parents are encouraged to be involved in the youth ministry. Also, monthly programs for parents of teenagers are held the second Wednesday of each month. Topics of discussion include communications, youth culture and understanding.

Youth Advisory Council

YAC meets once a month and is for all Youth Workers, selected youth and parents. Meetings review past and upcoming activities of the Youth Ministry and are held the third Monday night of the month
