Children Impacted By AIDS

This HUMC Committee continues to provide for a number of children infected with HIV and their siblings impacted by AIDS. Emergency food and utilities, household and childcare supplies, birthday and Christmas gifts, special outings such as a trip to Lancaster to ride the rails of the steam train there, are just the highlights.

In memory of Audrey Goldy, the committee gave several solar powered, wind up radios to be sent to villages in Africa where they will be used in AIDS education, as well as canoes for our children impacted by AIDS attending our local summer camp.

"Camp I Am Somebody" is for children with AIDS and their siblings. Our committee member Rick Landidi is the Program Director. Rick arranged for the children to make tie-dye tee shirts and birdhouses out of pre-cut wood, among many other activities.

For reasons of medical confidentiality, we are unable to show you pictures of the more than 25 children we help. Trust us, they are all beautiful.

We give special thanks to members of the congregation who continue to support our efforts financially and prayerfully. This sensitive ministry to these fragile children makes a world of difference to them and their families.
