Master Chorale

Hallelujah!
It's a good thing to sing praise to our God;
Praise is beautiful, praise is fitting.
Sing to Yahweh a thanksgiving hymn,
play music on your instruments to God.
Psalm 147:1,7

How blessed Harriet and I feel to serve this great congregation thru the Ministry of Music. It is amazing to have great choirs leading our worship throughout the year.

The Chancel Choir

is looking toward new members joining them.  One of the new opportunities that has been given to the choir is presenting a service of Lesson and Carols on Christmas Eve, a concert at Longwood Gardens, and a Gospel concert in February.  This wonderful English tradition, with American twists, met with enthusiasm this past Christmas.  We are trusting God to move others not currently in the choir to join us for great music making, spiritual renewal and fellowship.

The Sonrise Choir

provides the choral leadership at the 8:30 service once per month with rehearsals on Wednesday night twice per month.  Under the capable direction of Barbara Talton, this group is certainly for singers who want to have fun and worship early!

Our Youth Music Program is Under Construction

With unexpected changes in the music staff leadership this past July, we are seeking to redesign music for youth at HUMC.  There are exciting possibilities ahead for new and creative ventures in music making.

Our Children's Choir

team of Nancy Hanna Leong, Alisyn Stoffel and Harriet Richmond are planning for their respective choirs of 4 year olds thru 6th grade. A high point of the coming year is a brand new musical entitled
"Elijah, God's Faithful Prophet."

HUMC's bell choirs are led by Ken Hall, Alexis Osborn, and Nancy Hanna Leong.  The three directors have developed wonderful musical choirs for all of us to enjoy during worship, Have you ever more "concentrated looks" on faces than when the bell choirs stand in front of you in worship?  It's truly amazing.

All of our choirs depend on new members joining us each season, We would like to have you and members of your family as a part of our music ministry.  Come on out and give us a try!

Listed in the brochure are starting dates and times for each choir.  Extra brochures are available in the church office and information racks around the church.  Share the gift of music making with other interested friends.

Wayne Richmond - Director of Music

Worship is central in the life of Haddonfield Methodist Church.  We believe that a church service is the creation of an atmosphere in which a spiritual miracle can occur and that music plays a large role in the atmosphere of the service.  God has given us the privilege, joy, and responsibility of praising and exalting the Lord together in song as a congregation each week.

The Music Ministry offers the entire family an opportunity for training and service to the Lord.  While music is the vehicle with which to work, we endeavor to aid in the development of the total Christian character.  Faithfulness, dedication, dependability, punctuality, cooperation, a deepening of Christian faith, and fellowship are by-products of this training.  each member of this ministry is enabled to recognize his or her God-given talents as a trust from God.

  • 3 Children's Choirs

  • 2 Adult Choirs for Sunday Services

  • 1 Community-based Oratorio Choir with Orchestra

  • 3 Handbell Choirs (2 Adult, and 1 Children's)

We sincerely hope that you or someone in your family will participate in our Music Ministry.  If that is not possible, we ask that you commit to prayer this vital and important ministry.

If you or your children are interested in any of our choirs, please call the Church Office, (429-0403) for further information.  We would be delighted to have you involved!  In addition to the choirs listed we sponsor a Women's quartet, and various instrumental ensembles for special occasions.
