Children Impacted by AIDS
December 4th was  AIDS Awareness Sunday when people around the globe stop to remember and pray for people impacted by HIV.  The decorated candle on the Altar has been placed there by our HUMC Committee for Children Impacted by AIDS.  This month’s communion offering will be used in their ministry with families impacted by AIDS in our area.  This past year, four families with a total of eleven children have had care representatives from our church visiting them and helping to meet emergency needs.  We thank Great Plumbers for hooking up a used gas stove we purchased for one family.  Thanks to Carol Jeglic for hosting a swim party at her home for our families.  Thanks also to the Rev. Bill McElwee and the Young Eagles for giving airplane rides to one of our children.  We also took a group of nine children from the Cooper Hospital AIDS Clinic to Philadelphia for the day, including a “Ride the Ducks” tour.

Your financial support enables us to meet unforeseen needs and also to bring a smile to kids in our area impacted by this incurable disease.  Thank you for your prayers and support

Henderson Settlement Report
Mae Roehr, Ivan Moyer and Norma Whitcraft recently returned from Henderson Settlement.  They delivered two vans full of things for MIHOW (Maternal Infant Health Outreach Workers).  This group assists 56 mothers, mostly single, in the Frakes, Kentucky area.  Thanks to many of you they took diapers, pull-ups, formula, infant Tylenol, Desitin Cream, baby wipes, baby shampoo, baby wash, many articles of infant and toddler clothing, tissues, a crib mattress, a bassinet, and one van filled with new and used (in excellent condition) toys.  What fun it was to drive along and hit a bump or turn a sharp curve and hear a few toys talk or sing to you!  It is such a meaningful experience to know that in just a small way we are providing assistance where it is desperately needed.
If you have a group that would like to know more about Henderson Settlement and the work being done there, contact Frank Cahill or Norma Whitcraft.  We have a PowerPoint presentation we can share with you.

Ringers Needed
The Carl Welsher & Albert D. Holtz Handbell Choirs are looking for people who are interested in joining one of these choirs.  Handbell ringing is an excellent way to praise God in our worship services.  Rehearsals are fun, and they provide a unique opportunity for fellowship with other ringers.  Ability to read music is helpful, but it is not absolutely necessary.  Many of our ringers began without this skill.  The choirs rehearse on Monday evenings and play during services once a month between October and May.  If you would like to join one of these choirs or have some questions, please call Ken Hall (795-4567) or Alexis Osborn (858-5049).  We would love to hear from you

Energy Conservation
With the anticipated increase in utility costs, a suggestion is made to consider wearing layers while in and around the church buildings or attending services,  which will help when we need to lower the thermostats to conserve energy costs.  Also, don’t forget to turn out lights when leaving a room.  Every little bit helps!
