Information and Frequently Asked Questions  December, 2005

Arrangements are being made with the Neighborhood Center Whereby we can post their newsletter, The Neighborhood Report,  on our site as soon as it is issued. The Center is headquartered in Camden and serves the needs of pre-school, and school-age children as well as adults and senior citizens. Our Myrtle Stillwell is President and on the Board of Directors.

The Christmas Giving Opportunities Bulletin insert is now listed on a flyer page.

The Audit Reports for the year ending December 31, 2004 can be viewed as PDF links on the "Extra Page",
which is a catch all page for temporary postings.

November Website Report
We have a new traffic Counter, StatCounter.Com which will replace GoldfStats.Com.  The traffic Counter enables us to see how many people are viewing the site, what pages are being viewed and for how long, and where the visitors are located. The service also provides several other technical stats useful to the webmaster. A Summery version of the report will be now be available here every month. Our former Traffic Counter, GoldStats, has had problems. Our site does come with an "on-board" Traffic Manager, however, it seems to over-report and does not have all the features StatCounter has.

November 2005 Reports

The Stats show the difference for the amount of visitors reported for the month of November was over 1,000; and over 2,000 for the amount of pages displayed. The new service should alleviate this problem.

Visits Pages Displayed
GoldStats 302 970
WebAlizer 1394 3107

Definitions: Visits = Each time a connection is made to the website
Page Views or Pages Displayed = The total amount of pages that were viewed for that month.

The term "Hits" is meaningless, each page on a website can account for 20 - 30 hits, as each element of the page is considered a "Hit".
Visitors using a dial-up connection receive a new I.P. Address every time they connect, Broadband Visitors have a permanent I.P. Address.  Thus, a dial-up visitor who looks at the site 4 times in one day will count as 4 different visits, and a Broadband visitor will account for 1 visit. It is impossible to get a 100% accurate report with either of these services.  Our new service uses different methodology to count traffic, so future reports will be much improved.
For the record, GoldStats was much closer to reality, however, StatCounter.com promises more reliable service and it is FREE!

WebSite Analyzed
Our website was professionally analyzed last month by an independent service.  While we received an excellent overall rating, the results did show the site is "Fat" - there are so many pictures and graphics it takes dial-up visitors a long time to connect to the homepage. Statistics prove if a visitor can not view your homepage in 8 seconds they click off.
Efforts will be made this month to "Trim the Fat" without affecting the overall look and feel of the site. Earlier this month our service reported that we had used close to 98% of our space, the figure has been reduced to 91% and will continue to be reduced.  Plans are underway to upgrade our plan.

Refreshing Your Browser
Several people have mentioned they do not see updates to the website even after the site has been updated.
What is happening is this; The computer has the previous version in its RAM or memory and will continue to do so until one of two things happens: One, you disconnect from your internet connection and reconnect, or Two, you click on the word "View" from the Internet Explorer Toolbar and select the "Refresh" command. Some Toolbars have a "Refresh" Icon displayed, some are set so pressing the "F5" key will refresh.
Clearing out the computer's memory may also improve the speed in which you load web pages and send e-mail.  Several hours with the same internet connection will dramatically fill the computer's memory and slow down transmission speed.

The Bulletin continues to be posted every week.

Plans for the future include a possible on-line Bible Study.  Several formats are being studied at this time.

October 26 marked the 50th anniversary of the fire that destroyed the "Graystone Church", which was the church that stood in the exact same place as our present day church. There are actual photos of the fire taken by Gertrude Klein and several that appeared in the local newspapers.  Details are on This Page.
