Ministries at HUMC

Ministry List, The Bus Ministry, The Cemetery

HUMC offers many opportunities to faithfully respond to the promise we make to fully engage in the ministries of this church with our presence, prayers, gifts, and service.  Please use this booklet to help you discover where you might find a place within the lie of this church to develop and use your gifts, talents, and skills.

We are a WORSHIP + 3 Congregation where we encourage and expect every member to participate in worship and additionally be involved in one study/small group experience (to nurture their spiritual life), one mission or social concern ministry, (to nurture another person) and financially support the work of HUMC in ministry and mission.

The Bus Ministry
Chairman - John Landgraf
(For the weekly Bus schedule, see the "What's New" page.
This ministry involves a group of designated drivers and a 15 passenger bus.  This transportation vehicle provides safety, ease of entry, and promotes the visibility of Haddonfield United Methodist Church as it travels along the highways.  The name of the our church is seen on the side of the bus and on the back, the church steeple is pictured above our new log with the words, "Believe, Belong, Become."  Senior citizens, youth groups, choirs and other small groups of the church have the opportunity to safely travel to and from church-related events.  Interested drivers are required to have an orientation and education session concerning the rules with John Landgraf in order to become a designated driver for operating the vehicle.

Joyce Yost schedules the drivers who volunteer to arrange pick up and deliver senior citizens from nearby residencies to attend 11 am church service.  The Bus Ministry of HUMC allows a number of small groups and teens to attend functions away from the church property occasionally and to represent our church as a group.

Requests to use the bus must be scheduled as far in advance as possible with Linda Ingram in the church office, (856) 429-4030

The Haddonfield United Methodist Cemetery
Chairman - David Potts

Our Cemetery was first known as the Methodist Episcopal Burying Grounds.  The land was purchased for $180 in 1835.  Its location is at the crest of the hill, across from what is now the Bancroft School on East Kings Highway.  There is a map of the cemetery in the church office.  There are two sections, the "old" section dates from 1835 ,and  the "New" section is where was created when our first church was removed in 1856.  There are 1400 (plus) burial sites in the cemetery, which is approximately 80% occupied.
Their are over 22 Civil War veterans resting here.
(A more complete history with photos will be added to the "History" page of this site in the future).

The current fees for purchasing a burial site, including internment are:
Full burial site  $625.00
Cremation burial site  $300.00
There is an additional charge for opening the burial site at the time of burial).

The Haddonfield United Methodist Church Cemetery committee is responsible for assisting church members in purchasing burial sites.  Ownership of these sites cannot be transferred or sold to anyone other than the owner's heirs, unless the person purchasing the burial site(s) is a member of HUMC.
The American Legion Post No. 38 places flags on all Veterans burial sites on Memorial Day...they are removed after Flag day, June 12th.
